歌曲「Streets of London」是一首60年代的民歌经典，这是英国创作歌手Ralph McTell发表于1969年的作品。谱写这首歌的时候Ralph McTell年仅24岁。在歌中，Ralph用梦呓般的声音轻轻的向我们诉说着那些我们不曾留意的被世界遗忘的人们，听完这首歌后你又怎么能矫情的说你有多孤独，你的世界里没有阳光呢。让我牵起你的手，带你走过伦敦的街巷.......

Ralph McTell从小就展示了非凡的音乐才华，后来更从Leadbelly、Woody Guthrie、Robert Johnson等民歌与蓝调先驱人物的作品中，得到了很大的启发。在英国与伦敦当了几年流浪歌手后，他返回伦敦，在苏活区的一些民歌俱乐部卖唱，逐渐打开知名度。一位乐曲出版商对他的作品大为欣赏，协助他取得唱片公司的合约。1969年，他在第二张个人专辑「Spiral Staircase」里面发表了自己谱写的「Streets of London」，不过当时并未受到重视，后来，他在1974年底重新录制了这首歌，结果夺下英国排行亚军，就此成名。
在德国，这首歌甚至还创下同时有四个版本在排行榜上的情形，其中他自己的版本就占了三个。虽然他后来在排行榜的成绩并不算非常突出，但是却受到极高的评价，几乎相当于英国的Bob Dylan，成为英国、欧洲、甚至美国许多民歌手学习的榜样。而「Streets of London」更是他毕生最具有代表性的经典，翻唱的人至少超过两百位，除了资深的英国老牌歌手Roger Whittaker之外，还包括Bruce Springsteen与Aretha Franklin等等。

  • 有种沧桑的感觉 和那首trying to remember很象 还让我想到了另一首 puff the magic dragon 不知你听过没 我是直布罗陀之风

    也许我是从歌词表达的内容上来比较的，所以我觉得这3首歌给我的感觉各不相同，我聼这首Streets of London的时候曾想到过Billy Joel的Piano Man, Piano Man的第一段便是描述一位老人。
